Pejović Guitars

The resonance of love, passion and devotion.

Early electric

The first guitars we made were one-of-a-kind experiments. We wanted to see if we could really make a guitar that would be fully functional and good looking, using either the wood we cut down ourselves or the trunks that family members and friends gave us. Ecstatic about the results, we continued fantasizing and working on different designs, adapting all the ideas we had to the pieces of wood we had stored.

Early acoustic

While taking part in art colony in Pont-Aven, France, Ivan decided that his best art project would be crafting his first acoustic guitar. With few basic tools he had at hand, he designed and crafted a light, soft sounding acoustic guitar. It wouldn’t be a true Pejović project if he hadn’t experimented there as well, so he decided to exclude the bracing system. Enchanted with the sound and the looks of it, a close musician friend instantly wanted it for himself.

The second acoustic guitar that Ivan made is a gipsy-sounding one the design of which served as an inspiration for the development of original Pejović Guitars design.

Early bass

Playing the guitar in several local bands for many years, Ivan’s interest in bass guitars started increasing, so, naturally, he decided to make one for himself. He instantly wanted to make it fretless but was convinced to do otherwise. Much like his first acoustic, the first bass guitar ended up in the hands of a musician friend. This meant it was time to make another one for himself and a fancy-looking fretless it was.

Miss Pejović Guitars

From the very beginning of Ivan’s guitar-making passion, Andrija’s been closely involved in almost every project. Being a professional handball player, he didn’t have much time to spend on these activities. However, it came a point when he decided to make a project of his own. Hooked on heavy sound, he decided it would be a seven-string model and developed the main design which evolved on the go. Excited about his own first project, he implemented every idea that crossed his mind. Once he got all his ideas off his chest, he decided to get more serious with the next one. He came up with the design while playing handball in Qatar and made sure that once he got home, he had everything he needed to make it. Over the past several years this sweet-sounding guitar has had more photo sessions than any of our previous models, hence the name 😊

Vertigo 6

In 2019 when Montenegrin Ministry of Culture started supporting the development of creative industries in our country, we decided to draft a project and apply for the competition. The plan was to develop a model for small serial production and from the design of Miss Pejović Guitars arouse Vertigo 6. Ivan found it really challenging to draft a 3D model and watch a small CNC machine bringing our ideas to life. This model has already found three new owners, two of them outside Montenegro.

Vertigo 7

This fantastic seven-string model has not yet been given the attention it deserves but is perfect for those who love to djent. Hooked up on djent sound and technique for a while, Andrija insisted on making a guitar that would serve this purpose. It’s still looking for yet another djent fan to play it fast and loose.

The Wood

We are very intrigued by all sorts of wood that can serve the purpose of guitar making, but we prefer the wood that typically grows in the region of our country, Montenegro. What we mostly do is cut down the wood ourselves and prepare it for drying and for the guitar building process. Mulberry is so far the most admired, both as tonewood and for its color and texture. Apart from mulberry, we enjoy working with wild cherry, walnut, ashwood, carob and various kinds of maple and locust wood. We were also lucky to be noticed by several good-hearted people who donated valuable pieces of wood to our workshop. Amongst them we had an opportunity to get in touch with macacauba (aka hormigo) which we now strongly recommend for fretboards, especially bearing in mind the fact that ebony has become an endangered species due to the overuse in the production of musical instruments.

Our Pickups

There’s nothing more challenging than producing the sound that you have on your mind. Being highly addicted to various electric sounds a string instrument can produce, Ivan’s been persistent in winding and constructing the pickups himself. Successful in getting the sounds he imagines, he is now on a mission to wind the pickups that will sound exactly the way our clients want.

Innovations

As fascinated as we are by guitars, we’ve always strived towards making them even more fascinating. That’s why we keep analyzing its week points and trying to make them stronger. And what better place to start than headstock joint? Aiming to make the joints stronger while wasting smaller amounts of wood, Ivan’s invented a brand-new way for the construction of this easily breakable guitar part. We now construct all our guitars in this manner and guarantee the joint sturdiness.
